Yesterday I rode my bike straight from work to Pacific Place, where I went to see
Thunderbolts* with Laney. I think we'd both agree that
Black Widow was better, but we still both enjoyed this one as well. We were also both very ambivalent about how they handled the metaphor of depression as represented by the supervillain. Laney thought they spent a bit too much time on that specifically, particularly in the climactic battle. I was unsure of how well it worked for them to make that a metaphor in this context to begin with, but really appreciate a big swing that for once makes one of these superhero movies actually different from the others.
I locked my bike in the parking garage beneath the building. You have to switch elevators in the basement level, and I had my AirPods in, so I did not even notice Laney yelling out my name until she said it maybe three times. I was absolutely not expecting to see her on that level, but she had gotten into the elevator not realizing it was going down rather than up, and then by chance, she happened to see me walking toward one of the garbage cans. I was aiming to blow my nose because of my cold. Otherwise I would have seen her.
So, then we both rode the elevator up, both of us wearing masks for the duration of the movie, which we do not often do anymore. But, with my cold, it was just better to be cautious.
Through much of the movie, I was leaning toward B+ as the grade, but later, as I was actually writing my review, it seemed a solid B was more fair. It was good. Not great and not terrible, but good.

Shobhit had an audition in Burien last night at 8:00, so he was gone when I got home from the movie. I was just posting the link to the review to my socials when he got home, so that would have been around 9:00. I slept so poorly the night before (because of the chai rather than the cold, but the two combined was not great) that I went to bed early, by around 9:30 or shortly thereafter. I really zonked out, probably aided by a dose of NyQuil.
I've been pretty tired all morning as a result, plus a bit more congested than I was yesterday. Under normal circumstances I might have even stayed home today, but for all the catching up I still need to do after being out for my Birth Week last week, and far more crucially, the Office Relocation Team tour of the new store and the building amendities scheduled for today. There was no way in hell I was going to miss that. Judge me if you want.
Now I just need to find the time to edit and organize the roughly 45 photos I took.
