  • Thu, 23:42: My favorite city planning concept of any Australian city is Adelaide Parklands, a roughly figure-eight shape of parkland entirely surrounding both the central business district (β€œthe Square Mile,” locals apparently call it) and North Adelaide.

Most this creates a parkland barrier between the city center and the surrounding suburbs that is about 0.4 miles in width, and the combined parklands area totals 1,878 acres, or just under three square miles.

I have been fascinated by these parklands since before we first visited in 2020, but there was never the time or the opportunity to explore them then. We did today! Shobhit and I walked through maybe a quarter of the outer circumference of the parklands, walking a trail through six of the total 29 numbered parks. Combined with some additional walking through the city, this walk alone was well over eight miles. https://t.co/UFmhxk3Or1
