I remembered the thing I was going to mention in yesterday's post and then forgot about!

I was going to mention Australia. This is because, as of the 19th, that trip was one year ago. The past few days as I scroll through my Facebook Memories page—which has long been part of my daily morning ritual—the first thing I see are posts from a year ago on today's date, and right now they have been from our first stop on that trip: Brisbane.

I didn't really post a large number of times on any given day on that trip, usually between one and three, often with multiple photos from one particular point of interest. The biggest reason it's even more relevant now, though, is that I am nearing completion of all my pending Daily Lunch Update ("DLU") photos for these posts. With the exception of the 11 shots I am saving for use in (mostly) June for Pride or (in one case) December for Christmas (that one's a photo of a store window koala Santa in a sleigh being pulled by kangaroos instead of reindeer), I have 9 photos left to use.

This means I'll run out of Australia photos to use, at least for the time being, during the one-year anniversary of that trip. After today, I need only to use 3 photos each in three more posts. I already look on that trip wistfully, and am already eager to plan another one. I'd really love to make our next trip one that takes place over the holidays, so we could both spend Christmas with Uncle David and Mary Ann—who spent Christmas with my family in Phoenix twice, in 1986 and in 1990—and spend New Year's Eve in Sydney so we can see their spectacular Sydney Harbour fireworks display in person. I really love this idea. I also want to take that train that runs between Darwin and Adelaide, even though we already know it's super expensive (we looked it up when planning the 2023 trip, and discarded it as an idea for that visit).

Anyway. I'd love it if my photo choices today were from a year ago today, but I've already burned through all my photos from Brisbane. The photo at the top of this post is from Veale Park in Adelaide, taken on March 3 last year; the middle one, below, was taken at Pitt Street Mall in Sydney on March 5; the one at the bottom was also taken in Sydney, but the first of the two weekend visits, that one at the Art Gallery of New South Wales on February 25. So, a year ago on Sunday.

I have little to report otherwise. I walked home from work yesterday, pit stopping at the Central Library to return my library book. Shobhit was already out getting his steps and barely got home when I suggested we walk to Trader Joe's together before I had to come up to the condo, and he came back down again and met me on the street.

We had Indian meal packets and rice with frozen naan, baked in the oven, for dinner. It was fine. Shobhit had virtual meetings all evening. I've been listening to the Newcomers podcast with Laruen Lapkus and Nicole Byer, and this season they are burning through all the Batman movies. They have reached the Christopher Nolan trilogy, and I really enjoyed their episode on Batman Begins (2005), which I had not watched in ages. I would assume I've watched it since 2010, but 2010 was the most recent record I could find, even when searching for mentions in my LiveJournal. So, I watched that in the bedroom last night on my iMac, and I really enjoyed watching it. That movie has long been really underrated.

It's also pretty long, at like two hours and twenty minutes. It was time to go to bed shortly after I finished it.
