Sun, 18:00: Birth Week viewpoint #5! Overlook Park, Tumwater (overlooking Olympia), WA
Height above sea level: 407 ft (124 m)
Highest viewpoint I could find in Olympia: a tiny park actually in Tumwater, with sight lines on the Capitol building, Capitol Lake, and Budd Inlet beyond. Rows of apartment buildings partially obstructing the view kind of a bummer.
But! Dad also took me to a great viewpoint that’s arguably even cooler, at the Thurston County Courthouse (elevation 155 ft / 47 m), although that has no line of sight to the Capitol. We also stopped by West Bay Park, which is down on the bay, and has its own great view of the Capitol and downtown Olympia from the other side.
