Another quiet evening at home last night. Two in a row! It was rather nice actually. Things pick up again as of this evening: Action Movie Night tonight;
Superman at the theater tomorrow hopefully with Laney if she has recovered enough from the cold she caught at a gathering last weekend; BYOB with Laney on Friday, again with the same hopes. I guess how busy I'll be the next few days depends largely on how well Laney does or does not recover—but, I'll be seeing the movie tomorrow either way. And then I'm meeting Tracy for Tacoma Pride on Saturday, and Alexia's coming to Seattle to hang out on Sunday. We'll be walking to the Valley of the Gnomes in the morning, and then doing our next Batman Movie Marathon double feature:
The Dark Knight Rises and
The LEGO Batman Movie.
I have a relatively chill week after that. A couple of movies scheduled. The following weekend is relatively open right now, followed by my taking Monday and Tuesday the 21st and 22nd off so I can go to North Cascades National Park with Dad and Sherri. I'm really looking forward to that.
Speaking of which: that will be the next thing I email a travelogue out about. I skipped Independence Day this year, for the first time in probably over a decade. It just wasn't exciting enough to share anything about to a large distribution list, and I had sent one out about Seattle Pride less than a week before—and got no responses at all, which is unusual. Perhaps people had their fill of "Pride Stuff" after I had already sent travelogues about World Pride Washington D.C. only a couple of weeks earlier. That may not be a reflection of actual interest, I don't know. But hopefully North Cascades will be novel enough to be of more interest to people.
There's a chance Ivan may visit, though it feels iffy and there's no sense whatsoever yet as to the dates. He's going to a hypnosis conference this month and messaged me last weekend that he was thinking of tacking on a visit to Washington State to his trip. I immediately told him he can stat at our place and I would be delighted to see him. I did not remind him that, when he moved out after his third time living in the guest room, back in May 2022, he actually said "two years" would be when he'd come back to visit; it's now been three. I was beginning to wonder how long it would actually be—this is now the longest I have not seen him in person since I first met him in 2014.
Ivan can be super flighty about his plans, though. So, I won't get excited about getting to see him until I know for certain it's actually happening. The sister he hates is visiting his parents starting Wednesday next week, so he plans to fly out of there a day or two before that. The hypnosis conference is the 18th, 19th & 20th it looks like, and I already told him both Shobhit and I will be gone the 21st & 22nd—Shobhit will be at a labor conference in Vancouver, WA and I'll be in the North Cascades.
Shobhit's conference organizers were adamant about booking a union hotel, and the hotel where the conference is happening in Vancouver was already booked up. So, Shobhit got booked for three nights in Portland. Ivan told me he would probably visit Portland first, which I am just now realizing probably means he and Shobhit will be in Portland at the same time—what are the chances? Shobhit will presumably be very busy with his conference, though.
I suppose this means, realistically, Ivan will head to Seattle sometime that same week. I already told him I have just one plan (again with Laney), on Saturday the 26th, but otherwise I have that weekend wide open. I'm not sure how much we can actually go out and do together, though; I won't have anything budgeted for a visit happening on this short of notice. I'm sure we can think of some way to make it work though.

Anyway! I watched a documentary feature film last night, which Shobhit watched with me:
Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story. It's not often you see a documentary that's a tearjerker, but this one certainly was.
I then spent the rest of my evening watching more episodes of season one of
30 Rock on Peacock. I've been saying for years that it's my all-time favorite TV comedy, so it's kind of wild that I've taken this long to rewatch any of it. I don't often rewatch shows, just because there tends to be other stuff to watch that I haven't already seen. My hand was forced in a way this time, because I want to maximize my use of Peacock for the month I am subscribed to it. I think I watched maybe three episodes last night, which would make me about seven episodes in now.
Tina Fey's haircut in 2006 was kind of horrible. The show remains very funny though.
