I have to be quick about this today—I mean it this time!—as I only had about an hour this morning to work on this draft (and do other work related things) before our all-day training started. Basically all of Merchandising is spending the whole day in "The Ranch," our largest conference room. I wonder how we'll do this in the new office space? The largest conference room there seats about 20, I believe, and that's with packing extra people in. The floor layout indicates a table that seats 12, 14 in a pinch; maybe another 6 could sit on the bench along the wall, although I learned on Tuesday that the bench is being removed now that they have decided to use the versatile tables from the current "Ranch" instead of the table previously planned—it's a whole thing. Anyway I think there are 26 people in Merchandising.
I'm digressing already!
I need to tell you about Action Movie Night last night, which had two unusual aspects about its attendance: Shobhit had an organization event to attend so he didn't make it as initially anticipated. But, there were
three new people I've never seen before last night. One of them was even a woman!
So this would be the roll call this week: Tony, Jake, Ryan, Tom, Greg, the woman I assume was Greg's wife or girlfriend or partner or whatever word they use (she was never introduced, I have no idea what her name is), Tom, two more people from the place Tony and Ryan work at named Santiago and Zeek, Daniel, and myself. So few people actually RSVPed via email this week that Shobhit and I were thinking it would be a sparse week, but in the end we had a total of 10.
Shobhit made cucumber sandwiches, using a French bread we got from the clearance rack at QFC. This meant they were fairly small so I only had five! I am realizing now that was probably close to half of them.

It was Tony's movie choice this week. He told me after the movie that his original choice was
The Fifth Element, which would have been fantastic. But, he was at a store with Greg beforehand and they told him they had just watched that the other day. So, Tony pivoted and played
Starship Troopers.
That movie
kind of sucks. Reaction among the group last night was mixed. Greg loves it and was very excited about it; there has already been a pattern established that shows how his and my tastes differ. Even Tony noted that it had been a long time since he saw it, and I think he would have preferred
The Fifth Element as well. When I told him I don't care for that movie, he actually said, "That's because you have taste." Ha! That rather amused me.
I have never seen a movie so action-heavy that bored me so much. Why do people love that movie? I don't get it. It's countless narrative lapses in logic are just the tip of the iceberg, but for me probably the biggest thing is that all the characters are do bland and generic—in both physicality and demanor. Not an ounce of charisma in the bunch, although Niel Patrick Harris gets about halfway there. That makes for a dull movie.
This was one of those nights where I was just relieved when the movie was over.
