  • Tue, 10:16: So Disney responds to the rightful backlash against clear violation of First Amendment rights, and puts Jimmy Kimmel back on the air—but Sinclair Broadcast Group, long notorious for forcing local news affiliates to run right-leaning programming, does not. This means Kimmel remains silenced in Seattle, where ABC affiliate KOMO is owned by Sinclair, for no other reason than partisan bullshit.

    (And before anyone wants to try rolling in with how these are private companies who can make any decision they want about the content they air, that is a technically true argument that is also wildly disingenuous. This only happened because of overt FCC threats, which is the government, not the private companies, exerting pressure in clear violation of free speech. Although the private companies are still of course total cowards for capitulating to those threats.)
