Note that I
already posted yesterday, all about the packed day we had on Saturday: the Waterfront Park Grand Opening Celebration; driving to Tulalip for fondue dinner at Karen and Dave's newly constructed second house.
There's not much else for me to catch you up on regarding the weekend, which is by design: I still have tons to catch up on after the week I took off the week before last, plus the office holiday last Monday for Labor Day. This way I don't have to spend a bunch of time on this post today.
I had no social engagements on Friday. Shobhit and I watched the latest episode of
Foundation on Apple TV. That was basically the highlight of the evening.
We watched more TV yesterday: the series premiere of
Task on HBO; then this week's episode of
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.
We did go for a walk, once I was done writing my blog post. At first it was more of an errand by foot, which I don't usually count for the Social Review—we walked to the Capitol Hill Farmers Market at Cal Anderson Park, then on to the Broadway Market QFC for Shobhit to check his lottery ticket. But, then we took a long way home, so Shobhit could get his steps in and make up for his shortfall for the week. We cut down a street we don't often walk on and headed west, down to Summit, then walked Summit down to Pike Street. We passed a couple of convenience stores or coffee shops on Summit that were relatively isolated in between residential blocks, something I found oddly fascinating. I bet people living near there love those places. Similar places on Broadway or on the Pike/Pine Corridor, close as they are, would presumably have a lot more trouble with homeless people or open-air drug users. These places we passed by were much quieter and more chill. I kind of wish we had that closer to where we live, but, being all the way over on 15th notwithstanding, we are still right on Pine, which makes a difference.
We cut back toward the east on Pike, and stopped to check the seasonal flavors at Salt & Straw Ice Cream. This month they have a bunch of apple themed flavors, and they all sound delicious. But, we didn't want to buy a scoop, and I didn't want to go in and taste samples and just leave. So we moved on.

I should note that thanks to Labor Day having been a holiday and thus last Tuesday was the first day at this new office, today marks the first Monday at this new office location. I'm beginning to wonder if Mondays will be the quietest days of the week going forward. Mondays and Fridays were pretty equivalent for me at the old office, but that was because of the seclusion of my desk from the rest of Merchandising—last Friday I just had different people sitting in my row than had been earlier in the week. So far today, though, it's been quieter in this office all morning than any other day so far.
And that's even though I still have other people sitting near me today: Leon at the desk to my far right; Amanda behind me and to the left; Dave right behind me; Justine and Tracy in the desks behind me and to the right (to the left of Dave). I think the difference is that Dave, Tracy and Justine spend a lot of time in meetings, and both Leon and Amanda are pretty quiet. Plus, very few people are here from other departments as well. I've seen only three people in IT, and a smattering of people in other sections. What few other people are here are pretty quiet.
There's been a few cases of people getting on the phone. Voices do kind of echo in here, as all the desks are packed in one large central space now, surrounded on the perimerter by all the conference rooms and phone rooms. Even Leon was a bit loud on the phone. Thankfully, he doesn't seem to get on the phone often.
Shobhit and I have our first therapy appointment in six weeks today. Ostensibly we go overy other week, but there were just varing things that precluded appointments in the meantime, including Amy thinking she would be shifting to the Tacoma office on Mondays and then that later falling through; and having an appointment on the books last Monday but that was a holiday so it was canceled. I've been trying to decide whether to find another therapist closer to the new office location—Amy is in the building right next to the old office—but haven't come up with anything so far. So, I'll be taking the bus up there and back. That'll be a new thing as well.
