Peter, the Beer Wine & Spirits Merchandiser, came up to me at my desk this morning and asked, "Is your job transitioning to something new?"

I replied: "Nope. I'm just getting a new title and more money."

At this point, I figure I might as well just be straightforward about it. Noah said something to the effect of, I've been doing the same job for over twenty years. Well, not really. My job has evolved radically. It really looks nothing like it did when I was hired. It's pretty different from what it was ten years ago. "So was all our jobs," said Noah. I began to wonder if I was detecting a hint of subtext there.

Whatever. This is great for me now, and I'm not going to feel bad about it. Not that anyone has exactly asked me to. But I'm still going to bask in this moment, as it is one I am unlikely to get again for a very, very long time—if ever. It took 23 and a half years just to get to this point, after all.

Not much else to tell you now, this being a Tuesday after a quiet Monday night at home—last night was the one night in a solid two-week stretch in which I had nothing planned or scheduled. and I did very little of consequence. I made rice and heated a frozen naan and had it with my leftover Shahi Paneer from dinner with Alexia on Sunday; that was delicious.

I watched the first half of the Golden Globes on Paramount+, which I signed up for a week free trial just for this purpose, only to find I could not play back what had already been aired until the next day. And you know what else? Although I was able to screen share while the broadcast was live, it won't let me screen share when it's recorded! What the fuck is this shit? I could only watch it on my laptop.

I did also finally finish episode 3 of the first season of The Night Manager. So now I'm halfway through that season. I hope Shobhit's been watching in India! I want to move right into the new, ten-years-later season 2 as soon as I finish with season 1.

I did FaceTime with Shobhit for a few minutes, just because I wanted to see him. He seems unusually distracted the past few days; usually he calls every day. Sometimes that's kind of frustrating, at least when I've got a lot going on. Slow evening last night, though. I guess none of us can win, can we?
