Tue, 10:37: I will freely admit that I did not vote for Katie Wilson, although I really struggled with the choices last November as I was not crazy about either of them. But, she's here now, and for the moment anyway, I feel hopeful. At the town hall I once attended during the campaign, she seemed a little out of her depth (albeit not nearly to the degree as the other candidates not already in office), but a key element of governing is hiring competent and experienced people to fill in whatever your own gaps are, and it sounds like she's doing that. Whether she actually makes a meaningful and lasting impact on this city I love so dearly—particularly in terms of the twin issues of rampant homelessness and the mega-corporate stranglehold of Amazon—remains to be seen, but I sure hope she will.
