Yesterday Laney and I went to see
Father Mother Sister Brother at a 5:15 showing at Pacific Place, and neither of us liked it
at all. I even whispered to her about halfway through how I was bored to death, and she agreed with me.
We caught a bus together toward home afterward, and as we walked over to Pike, she commented on how she didn't have strong feelings about the movie; she just felt nothing toward it. I would say absolute boredom is a pretty strong feeling, so I definitely have a strong feeling about it.
When I shared the link to my review on Facebook, she commented that she was surprised I gave it a C rather than a C-minus. I was tempted, but the acting wasn't bad. It wasn't great either, but it wasn't bad. That alone took the overall grade up, however slightly. I did give the script a C-minus. I think D+ would have been slightly too harsh.
Both of us were pretty baffled by the number of glowing reviews that movie has gotten, though. I think I've seen enough Jim Jarmusch movies now to know that he simply isn't my thing. I should avoid his movies in the future, even if, as was the case here, the trailer makes it look at least moderately compelling. I have never liked his movies all that much, with
Only Lovers Left Alive being the closest thing to an exception.

My weight keeps climbing up every morning the past few days, for a variety of reasons. I ate way too many chocolate confections at work yesterday. And then, I had Alexia's leftovers from dinner on Sunday, which she sent home with me. Between that, the last of the rice I made on Monday, and the two "Indian style flatbreads" I bought at Trader Joe's, I had a rather heavy dinner last night. Had I been thinking it through, I should have cut that all in half and split it between last night and tonight. At least tonight I'm guaranteed to have a ligher dinner. No more Indian food leftovers.
I have several "Indian style flatbreads" left, though. I think there were six in the package? I got off the bus on 15th and walked the two further blocks up to Trader Joe's to buy them. I was going to get their frozen garlic naans, but they were sold out. This would have to do. These were also garlic flavored though and turned out to be pretty tasty. Most of the rest are pretty certain to get consumed by Shobhit.
Once I was finished writing my review, I had just barely enough time to watch episode 4 of season 1 of
The Night Manager. I have two episodes left. I went to bed right after that.
